Help us to rebuild a habitat that was lost due to human activity!
Have you ever wanted to have a real hand in fixing an environment that was changed by humans? We have just the event for you!
We need your help to save our oak trees! We are preparing our lands for a prescribed burn to restore acres of parkland to its native state. We want to save as many of our oak trees as possible over the next six months by removing debris from beneath their canopies so they do not catch fire.
After you help to save these trees, you will have free day entry to cool down in the river and enjoy the park for the rest of the day!
We look forward to seeing you there! Please read everything below so that you are prepared to join us!
- Bring/wear: closed-toed shoes, hat, refillable water bottle, bug spray and sunscreen. Please also wear lightweight long sleeves and pants. We will have ice water jugs to be sure everyone stays hydrated!
- Please bring sturdy work gloves to avoid splinters. Gloves can be provided upon request.
- If you arrive before the office opens, drive on down to the Equestrian trailhead behind the bird blinds and we'll have a parking permit for you. Entrance will be free for those who volunteer!
- If you arrive after 8:00am, please check in with headquarters, collect a map of the site location and follow driving instructions to the site.
