Join Young Birders Club at McKinney Roughs Nature Park with Travis Audubon Volunteer Amy Sugeno!

Amy Sugeno used to volunteer for the YBC a few years ago, where she helped start the TAS Youth Birding Camp and led a Roughwings team in the Great Texas Birding Classic for several years. Her team won the central coast section one year. She is excited to lead the next birding event, so please join Amy on a guided bird walk through the McKinney Roughs Nature Park. The nature park has so many activities and amenities to offer to the public. There is a fee to enter into the park, please see pricing below. McKinney Roughs Nature Park is in a transition area between the Blackland Prairie-Post Oak Woodlands ecosystem and the Piney Woods ecosystem,  a large diversity of birds can be spotted here throughout the year. The nature park just completed a new bird blind, making it a great opportunity to spot feathered friends.

Please be reminded that this is NOT Mckinney Falls State Park. This nature park is located off of TX-71, the address is 1884 TX-71, Cedar Creek 78612. If you add the address into the GPS, you shouldn’t have any problems. We’ll meet at the Visitors Center where there are restrooms, water fountains, and lots of parking. Birders are advised to wear good shoes (an extra pair in case the trails are muddy), water, bug spray, binoculars, and anything else you may need for a two hour hike. If you have any questions or difficulty finding the park please call or text Felicia Sawyers at 918.314.2495.
