MLK Jr Station
Austin, TX,
United States
The Austin Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) hopes more children across the city will be able to connect to nature on a daily basis. With this goal in mind, improvements are planned for several parks including MLK Station Neighborhood Park. PARD is seeking input from the community, especially children, about the improvements. Community members are invited to explore pop-up play areas, design-a-park stations, fort building activities, and vote on nature-based features.
There will also be free nature play with our recently launched Loose Parts Kit Program- a collection of items that are used to build and create in a free, unstructured environment. Our kits contain natural materials, animal figurines, string, fabric and more! Loose parts nature play promotes creativity, imagination, cooperation and communication, and fosters connection to nature and stewardship values.
