More Information:

  • Join our Master Naturalist guided hikes in the morning!  Enjoy an eerie trail in Bastrop where you will be hiking through an area ravaged by the fire of 2011!  Walk through a skeleton forest of giant pine trees left behind after the fire and witness how life has come back to live and thrive among the dead!
In Buescher you will hike through a creepy, thick forest learning about the animals that walk among you!  Do you see them or do they creep by with out your notice, hiding in the shadows of the forest?
  • Go on a scavenger hunt through both parks and maybe pick up some candy along the way!  Prizes at the end of the scavenger hunt when you meet back up with a ranger and show your conquests!
  • Join our knowledgeable volunteer at 2pm in Buescher for a hike through the past!  Go back in time and learn about strong, young men who built ghosts from a time long ago that still stand in the parks!
  • Could you survive an apocalypse filled with zombies or would you become a zombie yourself?  Mmmmm, brains!!!! Find out on this easy, short hike! (Real zombies not included)
  • Bring a pumpkin and carve a magnificent creation for all to see and maybe win the Jack 'O Lantern Contest!  You and your pre-carved pumpkin need to arrive at the Historic Golf Shelter at 6:30!  There will be three categories; Scary, Funny, and Creative.  See if your skills could win a prize!  Afterwards, if you are staying at the park, place your lighted pumpkins at the end of your camp site driveway for all to admire!
  • Bring your own mug for some hot cider, cocoa and smore's at the Historic Golf Shelter! (Limited supplies, first come, first serve.  Guests are welcome to bring their own supplies for themselves to enjoy around the fire!)
  • Spooky campfire stories at the Historic Golf Shelter!  Bring your camping chairs and a blanket to snuggle in!
