4 miles, every 4 years!
Did you miss out on our First Day Hike on New Year’s Day? Have you already failed at your New Year's Resolution to get outside and hike more? Well, wallow in self-pity no longer! Lockhart State Park has just the solution for you!!
Join us for our first annual Leap Day Hike! It’s a 4-mile hike over our entire trail system (and then some)! That’s only a mile a year, and it buys you 4 years of excuses for missing our other hikes! We’ll have plenty of stops along the hike to talk about park history (and allow you to catch your breath), and we’ll have a water station set up at the halfway point. We promise this won’t be a sprint, or a jog, or any other word that sounds way too strenuous to do for 4 miles. So come out and try it! If you enjoy it, we’ll have another one next Feb. 29th!
Meet at: Lockhart State Park Headquarters
Wear: Weather-appropriate clothing, hiking shoes or boots
Bring: Water and some way to carry it. We'll have a water station at the 2-mile mark to refill canteens/bottles.
