Description:

Come celebrate the spooky season by learning all about BATS (and why they're better than Batman) at Lockhart State Park!

We admit: Batman's cool. But compared to the real-life bats that live in Lockhart State Park, he's a wimp. Can he emit high-frequency sounds and use the echoes to pinpoint the location of food, obstacles, and predators? NO. Can he fly (not just fall dramatically from tall buildings) using the flaps of skin stretched between his elongated fingers? NO. He doesn't even eat tons of mosquitoes and other insects every year. Our bats make all that look easy. To learn more about them, join a Park Ranger at the Lockhart State Park Headquarters at 6:30pm. We'll talk about all the REAL superpowers that bats have, then we'll go for a hike down to the creek to look and listen for our local bats and other wildlife. Please remember to wear close-toed shoes and bring flashlights and water. Bonus points if you come dressed in your Halloween costume, especially if it's Batman.
