Take a closer look at our nearest celestial neighbor!

Discover the stories and science behind our largest satellite - the Moon! Peer through a telescope at the surface of the moon, learn how its craters formed and hear ancient stories.

Location on the Summit Trail, just past the Gazebo. There is no hiking as part of this program.

Bring

• Flashlight (preferably with a red lens; mainly for walk back to vehicle/campsite)
• Binoculars (if you got 'em)
• Lawn chair
• Dress for the weather

Entrance fee for the park is $7/person (children 12 and under are free); no additional fee to attend this program. Entry is free with a Texas State Parks Pass. No need to register, just show up.

Please no flashlights or cell phone use during this event (it can take 20-30 minutes for our eyes to adjust from bright light to darkness). Red-tinted lights are permitted.

*If you are arriving before or after office hours, you will need to use the Self-pay station. The Self-pay station is located at the front door of the office. Self-pay is CASH or Texas  State Parks Pass only.
